'All Girls Should Learn Biking'

Shiva Shanker K

Seeing her friends zoom away on bikes and watching a television programme on female bikers, Sai Chandrika was bitten by the biking bug. The 21-year-old Architecture student borrowed bikes from friends and took a year to learn.

“It could have taken less than a year, if I had owned a bike,” Chandrika says, adding that she owns a gearless Honda Activa now. Opposition from parents did not allow her to buy a geared bike. Biking is more of a hobby than passion for this aspiring architect who plans to buy a 220 cc Bajaj Pulsar after settling down in life.

“I suggest all girls take up biking, whether they like it or not, and ignore the weird looks they may get while riding it,” she says.
