The Kolkata-based Jadavpur University has seen a series of protests in the past week by students demanding action against molestation of a girl student on campus. The situation turned worse when the cops called in by the college authorities to handle the situation, attacked the protesting students and arrested 35 of them. The students have decided to boycott classes until Vice-Chancellor Abhijit Chakraborty resigns. Meanwhile, the VC has gone on leave citing health issues. The students of the University have found support from other institutes in the State who have joined them for protest rallies and such.
