Any subspace of technology seems lucrative and game changing the moment Google enters it! Partnering with Novartis, this technology uses sensors in the smart contact lens to detect analytes in tears and relay the information to a companion app. To start off, the aim is to measure glucose levels through tear drops and help in addressing diabetes. The patent application for this technology was filed on June 25 and is expected to be the next big thing.
Philips’ Medication Dispenser
This device alerts a patient when it’s time to take their pills by using a light and voice reminder, and when a patient pushes the button, pre-filled cups with medication are dispensed. The dispenser is synced with the landline phone, cellphone, or any VOIP, digital or broadband based phone service, and places an alert call to the caregiver in the event that the subscriber misses a dose. This product is typically designed for the elderly.
Quell Relief
Designed as a simple knee brace device, it serves the dual purpose of providing the support of a brace and having embedded sensors to access information through a common app. Based on wearable intensive nerve stimulation (WINS) technology, it has undergone clinical tests to help you manage chronic pain. The brace is worn just below the knee, and works by stimulating sensory nerves, thereby triggering the body’s natural pain relief response and blocking pain.
