RAIPUR: Ending the suspense over the fate of its three-time MLA, the Congress denied a ticket to sitting legislator Renu Jogi, wife of former CM Ajit Jogi, from Kota that she represents in the Chhattisgarh Assembly.

The party, which put out its fifth and final list of candidates on Thursday, consisting of 19 names, chose to field Vibhor Singh, a retired police officer, from Kota.

Renu may now seek a fresh mandate from the same seat on a ticket from her husband’s regional outfit Janata Congress Chhattisgarh (J).

She expressed her anguish in a letter to former Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

“I have regarded you as my ideal and always kept the Congress and the Gandhi family above my family and kept working for the Congress party,” she wrote.
