CHENNAI: All India NR Congress (AINRC) leader N. Rangasamy, now the chief minister-in-waiting in Puducherry, Saturday said the decision on a coalition government will be taken later.

He was speaking to reporters in Salem, around 325 km from here.

Rangasamy, along with the party's newly-elected legislators, arrived in Salem to offer prayers at the Sathguru Appa temple.

The two-month-old AINRC fought the elections in coalition with AIADMK, two left parties and the DMDK.

While AINRC won 15 seats, the AIADMK won five taking the tally to 20 in the 30-member house.

According to Rangasamy, the people elected him based on his earlier stint as Puducherry's chief minister.

A former Congressman, 60-year-old Rangasamy was the chief Minister of the union territory from 2001 to 2008.
