HYDERABAD: In what can be termed as a big victory for voters in Serilingampally Assembly constituency, BJP candidate G Yoganand on Friday signed on a bond paper committing to fulfil the demands of the people, if he wins the seat.

He is the first contestant from a major political party to make the legal commitment. One of the major demands mentioned in the affidavit is to shift the various polluting industries in the constituency outside the ORR  as per the GO MS 20 of 2013. The affidavit signed by the candidate also reads, “I will also ensure that I or my representative will attend the public hearings conducted by  PCB.”

The manifesto with an array of demands was prepared over two weeks ago by the residents in the constituency and others like Kukatpally, Quthbullapur and Patancheru who came under the banner of ‘Forum to Improve Things’(FIT) and made a seven-point manifesto. The BJP MLA, however, signed this affidavit omitting points like ‘Filing FIR on industries not abiding by the norms’.

“We appreciate that the candidate took his time and checked with the authorities and has come out in support of our demand. He has made a minor modification and signed and sent it,” noted Sridhar Ukkalam, spokesperson of FIT.
