Will stand by TRS, says Owaisi after meeting K Chandrasekhar Rao

After a three-hour long meeting with Rao a day ahead of counting of votes polled in the December 7 assembly elections, he discounted a scenario where his party would back out if BJP goes with TRS.

HYDERABAD:  A day before election results are announced in the State,  All India Majilis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi arrived on his motorbike to the camp office of caretaker chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Monday and held discussions with him for 3 hours. The meeting triggered a buzz whether the AIMIM could extend support to the TRS   in forming the next government in the event of the latter falling short of a majority.

After the meeting, Owaisi, speaking to newsmen said, “I cannot give you a verbatim rundown of the three-hour meeting. But for sure we didn’t discuss weather,” he said. Owaisi had earlier said several times that the KCR-led TRS would form the next government on its own and would not require the support of AIMIM.  “But we will stand by TRS, not only for development of Telangana but also for nation-building,” he added.

He also deflected the prospect of Congress inviting AIMIM into People’s Front by saying, “You should ask them. We were earlier termed as C-Team of BJP.”  Owaisi also took a potshot at TPCC chief Uttam Kumar Reddy and asked him to remain in movie theatres. “He was seen in movie theatres a few days ago. He should remain there.”

He said that BJP which had five seats in the dissolved Assembly would see its share decreased on Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, the AIMIM chief took to Twitter to confirm the speculations of his meeting and said, “I’ll be meeting Telangana’s caretaker & next CM of Telangana, KCR sahab @TelanganaCMO at 1:30 p.m.today. Inshallah he'll form government on his own strength, and Majlis will stand by him.

This is our first step towards a larger goal of nation-building.....(sic)”The Hyderabad MP has time and again maintained that KCR-led  TRS would form the government on its own. However, on Sunday during a press conference Owaisi while reiterating the same was also non-committal about supporting People’s Front if it came to power. “I don’t want to comment on that now,” he had said.
