HYDERABAD: Techies in the city who have been eyeing for a long weekend with Dec 7, the poll day being touted to be a holiday, will now be disappointed with CEOs of IT/ITES companies planning to work around the mandatory paid holiday clause and declaring it a ‘flexible working day.’
The IT bosses have been given the liberty to internally work out the modalities to ensure every employee is given enough time off from work to ensure that he/she is able to cast their vote and come to work too.
During an interactive session with IT bosses, bureaucrats, police and GHMC officials at the Cyberabad Commissionerate on Thursday, it was decided that the polling day would be declared flexible working day. People in morning shift can report to work in the afternoon and those in the afternoon can come a little later than their scheduled time.
“It is flexible working day and the inked finger will be a proof that the employees have actually voted to justify for their coming late to work,” Jayesh Ranjan, IT secretary, said.
Serilingampalli constituency which covers most of the Cyberabad has the highest number of voters (5.49 lakh) in the State. In 2014 only 47.85 per cent of votes were polled.
