HYDERABAD: Art and craft is no longer considered boring ever since Pogo introduced the show M.A.D on television four years ago. The host of the show, Harun Robert popularly known as Rob, has not only attracted the children but has the adults glued to the television sets watching Rob create unusual and unconventional work of art using simple everyday use objects.

After completing six seasons, M.A.D is ready with Season Seven promising to be bigger and better.

“Season seven will have a fresh look with new sets modeled to look like a workshop, with tools and materials I can readily use.

This time we will also have a dance segment and an animation segment with specific themes,” says Rob who is evidently excited with the fresh look of the show.

This time Rob will have a co-host Rumana who will enthrall the audience with her dance moves.

Whether it’s a plastic bottle or a crushed piece of paper, Rob has a unique knack of making an artwork out of it.

“I dont use regular tools but always look for alternate methods to create something. As a kid I used to find different things and try to innovate something out of it. In my institute also I was taught to use regular day to objects to create art. I use tools and material which kids can find easily,” says Rob commenting on his unconventional style of work.

Rob’s jovial and friendly rapport with the children has also added to the huge popularity of the show.

“I grew up with lots of cousins of varied age groups. I used keep them entertained by drawing. The fact that I had to make the same superhero cartoons to please them all has taught me to understand my current audience better.

Children are most honest audience and that makes the work fun and challenging. When I am with the kids, I never try to be an adult,” he says.

The show constantly demands new ideas and innovative work.

When asked what keeps him motivated Rob said that as an artist he has always been curious and that drives him to come up with new ideas and methods.

“The tons of fan mails that I get from the children as well as the parents is a huge motivation for me,” he added.

Rob in his message to his young admirers says, “Art is a good break for kids. Children should maintain a good balance between studies and art. Constructing something opens a different channel of thought and gives a sense of achievement. Through M.A.D we have encourage more and more children to indulge themselves in art.” The new season of M.A.D started on October 11 at 9 a.m on Sundays.
