Anjana Sukhnani is riding the wave of her hit Tollywood debut, ‘Don Seenu’ in which she stars with Ravi Teja. The actress talks to Expresso about her hopes, dreams and future plans.
Actress Anjana Sukhani could not have asked for more. Her debut in Tollywood with Ravi Teja has set the box office ringing.
A career in films was never a burning passion of this gorgeous girl who has a master’s degree in International Business and Foreign Trade.
“Acting just happened by chance. I was doing modelling to fund my education and then a few interesting offers came up. So I just wanted to give it a shot,” says the talented actress adding “I just wanted to complete one film and leave. But somewhere I started enjoying the craft and stayed put.”
Having starred in several films such as ‘Na Tum Jaano Na Hum’ (2002), ‘Hum Dum’ (2005), ‘Sun Zara’(2006) and ‘Jaana: Let’s Fall in Love’ (2006), Nikhil Advani’s ‘Salaam-e-Ishq’ (2007) and hit comedy ‘Golmaal Returns’ (2008), Anjana cherishes the role of she played in ‘Jashn’.
“It was a very strong character of somebody torn between family and love of her life. It was a challenging role,” says the actress who loves the adulation that comes with being an actress. “It gives you a high. All the adulation, money and fame but I also feel like doing all the normal things like shopping and the usual stuff that now I find difficult to do.”
This Sindhi girl from Jaipur also appeared in over forty commercials including Dairy Milk ad with Amitabh Bachchan along with a music video ‘Dulhnaiya Mar Jayegi’. "My grandfather was the light of my life, my motivator,” says the actress adding “I have always been hardworking and honest. I put my heart and soul into everything I do.”
After having seen considerable success in her career, Anjana believes that a film’s failure and success depends on several factors that are beyond the control of an actress. “There is only so much you can do. Of course there are moments of insecurity but you are only a part of a film and can never be the sole reason for a film not doing well.”
The actress whose last release in Hindi was Puneet Sira’s 'Jai Veeru' opoosite Fardeen Khan, believes in living in the moment. “I used to plan a lot but I have stopped that now. I am taking each day as it comes. You never know what the future holds.”
