Aditya Roy Kapur, actor

It is brilliant working with Gautham Menon. I'm nervous about how I've acted, which is good as it makes me work better.

Vipul Shah, Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and a host of big names in Bollywood are already fond of Aditya Roy Kapur, the boy with the long hair.

And it looks like director Gautham Menon is joining the club.

Kapur, 26, raised eyebrows when, right after the buzz of 'Guzaarish', he moved to Chennai to act in Menon’s untitled film, willing to spend almost four months there till the completion of the Hindi version of the film. Incidentally, the Tamil version, 'Neethane En Ponvasantham', stars Jiiva in the lead role.

Kapur stars opposite Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the film, which is scheduled to release in the summer of 2012. Here’s more from the actor whose favourite movie is 'Terminator 2' and favourite brand, Nike.

Out and about

This is a romantic comedy about college-goers. It is my first as a lead protagonist and I am very excited. The music for this movie is composed by A R Rahman. It is brilliant working with Gautham Menon. I'm nervous about how I've acted, which is good as it makes me work better. Filmmakers in the south are making movies on unexplored issues. The depth of the topics is also explored. Language is definitely a deterrent. Even if I do a movie in Tamil, there will be no meaning and truth to the dialogues till I learn the language first.

Lessons from Bollywood

It was a great experience working with Akshay Kumar in 'Action Replayy'. It belonged to a different school of film making. It was light-hearted. Aishwarya Rai, Hrithik Roshan ('Guzaarish') and Akshay Kumar are hard working people.

At first I was amazed to see how they could manage doing almost everything.

I realised making movies is not a bed of roses.

Journey of discovery I haven’t really discovered the perfect genre for me. I have had fun working in all the three movies — 'Guzaarish', 'London Dreams' and 'Action Replayy'.

For me, script and direction are two key elements for any kind of movie, be it small budget, commercial, action, comedy or a period film. It will be a crime if I restrict myself to certain scripts. I would love to direct a movie one day. It is a farfetched dream. There is so much that goes into direction.

Game zone: I have a PS3. I got it so my friends can come home and have fun.

Other skills: I have attended dance classes. I am no Hrithik but I can manage.

I wish: I would have loved to be a part of 'Love Sex aur Dhoka'. The movie was unusual.

What few know: I love animated movies. I wish I could voice the wild boar in 'The Lion King'.
