After a four-year hiatus, Jithan Ramesh makes a comeback with his upcoming flick, ‘Pillaiyar Theru Kadaisi Veedu’ (PTKV). When speaking to the actor about his experiences and expectations from this movie, he said, “Once this movie is released, I’m sure I will be recognised as ‘PTKV’ Ramesh, and not ‘Jithan’ Ramesh anymore.”

The last few years haven’t been smooth sailing for Ramesh. “After Jithan, I signed up films in frenzy without giving them much thought. My dad (RB Choudary) chose most of my films, which were along the similar lines of ‘Jithan’. I wasn’t very happy with the scripts so I refused to do the films that my dad chose,” says the actor.

And he adds, “That’s when PTKV happened, but my dad was against it. In fact, we didn’t speak for a month. But somehow I convinced him about my confidence in the script. I followed my heart and have given it my best,” reveals Ramesh.

The confident young actor is also ready to take compliments and comments from his fans by personally attending calls. “I’ve plans to get another SIM card and make my number public on the day PTKV releases. I will personally attend to all kinds of feedback, bouquets and brickbats via calls or messages, but I will deactivate my number after a week,” chuckles Ramesh.

What can one expect from this film? “PTKV is a complete family entertainer produced under our banner RB Choudhary's Super Good Films. The last 20 minutes of the film is a combination of a lot of surprises. The first half is packed with humour and the rest gets a little serious — the usual signature style of any Tamil cinema,” explains the actor.

And just as you wonder, Ramesh highlights the kind of humour he has played in the movie. He says, “I play a typical ‘T Rajendar’ fan. The director, Thirumalai Kishore and I approached TR personally and tried convincing him. Of course a little drama here and there worked well, with tears in the eyes.”

It seems that Ramesh would watch TR films every night before going to sleep to get the role perfect. “There is a four-minute dialogue in this film in TR style, which I did easily in a single take,” beams Ramesh. Though the film has a village-theme, it is not completely taken in rural areas. Sanchita Padukone and Suhasini play the female leads but the film only has a single love track. “I play a happy-go-lucky guy in the first half of the film. The story which revolves around a house and family which I belong to — ‘Pillaiyar Theru Kadaisi Veedu’. It has fair share of humour, and action as well.”

The film, which is slated for a release this month, will see Ramesh showing some risky dance moves also. “I have done a dance sequence in the film. Trained by Prem Rakshith master, there is a folk rope dance sequence, which ideally requires ropes but I did the whole thing without ropes,” he reveals.

Ramesh’s next is ‘Osthi’, which will go on floors from the first week of July. “In this remake of the Bollywood blockbuster ‘Dabangg’, I reprise the role played by Arbaaz Khan. But it has a lot of improvisations with a different body language, as visualised by director Dharani,” he says.

Ramesh has one more reason to be happy. He was the star at the Celebrity Cricket League. “I was the second highest scorer with 26 runs. The whole experience of Bollywood, Kollywood, Tollywood and Sandalwood coming together for a cause against piracy was great.” Ramesh calls himself his brother’s fan. “I loved ‘Ko’! My brother is extremely brother hard-working and it shows in the film. He is a workaholic. Sometimes, he gets restless when there is no shoot. I’m inspired by him,” he says.
