I'm more comfortable with action movies: Prabhas

Express News Service

A 10-year-long journey in Tollywood  and actor Prabhas has quite a few hits to boast about. With over 15 movies in his kitty, the actor says he is not quite as rebellious in real life. “Though the title of my latest movie is Rebel, I am not that rebellious. I am soft-spoken and a happy person. But, there have been a few situations, where I have surely been a rebel,” he says.

Quite a hit with the mass crowds, his latest movie Rebel is a revenge drama. Directed by Ragava Lawrence, the action sequences in the movie have been quite a hit with the audience. “Though, I have a lot of favourite scenes from the movie, this scene at the Ramoji Film City was shot really — where I walk down the alley and there’s a fight taking place right behind me. I loved the concept conceived by Lawrence, which is a first-of-its-kind in Tollywood,” says the actor.

A majority of his films have revolved around the typical revenge drama, including the latest Rebel. Ask him why he chose to do the film and he explains, “I love doing commercial films. The movie is a usual revenge drama and there is nothing considerably new that can be spoken about. We have tried bringing in new elements wherever possible and I am sure they have stood out and worked well with the audience.”

So, will he attempt a movie out of his comfort zone? “I am more comfortable with action films. I was very tensed for my last two films. For me offbeat to an extent means Mr Perfect or Darling. I cannot think of acting beyond it,” he confesses.

Being a star kid surely helps. And this time his uncle Krishnam Raju has quite a significant role in the movie. On his relationship with the yesteryears star, Prabhas shares, “His presence in the movie makes every scene relatable to people. And we did not want his look to be rustic. Instead Lawrence experimented and made it more today and English.”  All praises for his co-star Tammanah Bhatia, he mentions, “She is hard working and definitely a better dancer than I am,” he laughs.

His upcoming projects include two untitled movies, one with S S Rajamouli and ther other with UV Creations. “Shooting for Rajamouli’s movie will begin in January. This is also a mass movie, but this time there is a strong storyline. The title is yet to be decided.”

Ask him if marriage is on the cards anytime soon? “I can’t handle two huge commitments at a time. A Rajamouli movie and marriage! Nothing anytime soon,” he informs.
