To say Poonam Pandey lives for controversy would be an understatement. The former Kingfisher model was in the city for the promotion of her erotic film Nasha on Sunday. The film has garnered a lot of controversy thanks to the bold posters which show a semi-nude Poonam and has sparked outrage among religious groups in Mumbai and Delhi. But the model-turned-actress seems unfazed by it. “I have seen far more vulgar posters in Mumbai which are not removed. I’m shocked this has happened. I have not shown any private parts in the poster. But then again, it’s also working for the movie in a way,” said Poonam who seems confident that with the posters creating so much hoopla, the film will draw in a curious audience. “Posters are creating so much controversy, toh puri film kya karegi pata nahi (the film will create a greater controversy). I am now waiting for the audience reaction.”

Nasha follows the story of an 18 year old boy in love and a 25 year old woman and the obsessive love the boy develops for the woman. “I’m really excited. The story is really good and entertaining. It is a good package,” said the 22 year-old who was in the city to promote the film.

After her dare bare acts in the videos like ‘bedroom, bathroom secrets’ which she uploads on her website, Nasha produced by Eagle Movies and One Line Entertainment will see her in a full-fledged role which also marks her and co-star Shivam’s debut. Poonam who is known for her raunchy videos and titillating photographs on Twitter is not at all nervous about it. “I am not nervous, there is no doubt at all. After stripping so much and so many times, there’s no nervousness at all,” added Poonam.

The film which is an erotic thriller has a lot of bold scenes between Poonam and her co-star Shivam. “When the movie has Poonam Pandey, then the role has to be bold and there are intimate scenes in the movie. It is my debut and I have put my whole heart into it,” said Poonam on her role in the movie for which she gorged on junk food to get a voluptuous frame.

“When we were doing the intimate scenes, he (Shivam) was actually blank. He looked as if I was raping him. And I was like, ‘I am not that bad looking’,” said Poonam on filming the scenes

The actress who came into the spotlight by offering to go full monty if India won the World Cup in 2011 has since uploaded a variety of videos which show her in various states of undress on her website. “I have to keep changing things, serve something new and really good to the fans,” said Poonam who admits that she was fond of wearing short clothes even as a child. “I think men and women look good without clothes,” added Poonam.

When asked whether her family is okay with the uploads and movies, she said, “My family doesn’t like it. But every time I upload a new picture, they are like ‘she will never mend her ways’ and now I think they are used to it. Like every family we also fight sometimes. Poonam Pandey at home and in the media glare is the same. I do not practice double standards.”

Poonam has close to 400,000 followers on her Twitter account. Often she is at the receiving end of weird propositions from her fans. “Fans tell me ‘I want to kiss you’. I reply that it depends on the future where do you want to kiss me,” said Poonam.

Nasha is directed by Amit Saxena and hits theatres on July 26.
