Steffy, the soap star who is a household name through her characters in tele-serials ‘Manasaveena’ and ‘Agniputri’, is set to debut as the lead lady in upcoming Malayalam flick ‘Life’

The Kozhikode-based actress, who will hereafter be known as Saarangi, had played a small role in Malayalam movie ‘Kadhavasheshan’.

“’Life’ will be directed by Leon K Thomas, a debutante director,” says an excited Steffy who is Leon’s fiancee. Steffy, who is trained in martial arts, had shot to fame through ‘Agniputhri’ in which she played the double role of Annie and Vipanchika with ease.

“The soap had helped brush up my acting skills and boosted my confidence,” says Steffy who was a danseuse and a ‘Kalathilakom’.

According to Steffy, though she was not new to acting, she had her share of tensions during the making of ‘Life’.
“Leon was strict with me as he was with any other artist.  He is a perfectionist,” she says.
‘Life’ is set in the backdrop of Ramakkalmedu with a song shot in China. The movie is a pure family entertainer and is produced by Sha Media.
It also marks the reentry of Niyas of ‘Kshanakathu’ fame. Steffy says ‘Life’ is about a typical nuclear family and the issues created by a ‘third person’. “I play Meenakshi, a software engineer,” she adds.

The movie is produced by Saddique Kodinji who has also scripted the movie. The screenplay and dialogues are written by the director himself. ‘Life’ will hit screens by May.

“The movie will be remade in Hindi and Tamil. The Hindi version of ‘Life’ will be set in London. The details of the cast will be announced soon, said Leon whose next project is humour flick ‘Malayala padom’.
