She’s never been in the news for being a demanding diva. But if the Daily Mail’s story of her leaked tour rider is to be believed, then Beyoncé certainly has her moments. All crew members have to wear 100 per cent cotton, alkaline water must be chilled to 21 degrees and served with $900 titanium straws so the water remains absolutely pure. Red toilet paper in the loos at every venue is also a must as are hand-carved ice balls after each show to cool her throat. She even has space issues, using up the area that a whole sports team usually requires. Oh and did we mention only Pepsi products make their way into her mini fridge? So much for the halo round her head!
Pet pee(ve)
Mary J Blige is so concerned about hygiene that a 35-city tour means 35 new toilet seats. And if that isn’t a diva demand, then her excessive privacy demands are. Apparently, the powerhouse singer, who likes to be registered as Mrs Jefferson, requests (at least she’s polite about it) that her housekeeping staff adds 26 exclamation marks to her ‘Do Not Disturb’ door sign. That is in addition to the several security guards who’ll ensure no one disturbs her, one presumes. Her other requests include wine liquorice, Aveda.
Boy wonder
Justin Beiber, whose diva status is in question may not accept that the leaked rider was his. But we hear that this self-absorbed youngster apparently throws tantrums if anyone makes the mistake of looking directly at him and he gets even more furious if his on-off girlfriend Selena Gomez’s music is played. A boom box with an iPhone 5 connector is also essential while his list of munchie must-haves includes a deli platter, Swedish Fish, Ritz Bits peanut butter and cheese sandwiches and Haribo cola gummies. Proof that he’s still a boy, we say!
Mirror mirror
His latest hit Mirrors suddenly makes much more sense, as Justin Timberlake apparently insists on aving a large mirror placed directly above his bed. Now, we don’t go into the reasons for this but we hope that it is to see his own face the instant he wakes up. On his recent Legends of Summer tour with producerrapper Jay-Z, the former N*Sync singer even hired a professional cigar roller to convert the tour bus into a gentleman’s club for guests each night.
Minaj et trois
Joining the ranks of superstars is Nicki Minaj who makes bizarre requests for herself and the whole entourage. Like roses, a full tea set, fine silverware, fried chicken (more wings less thighs), a case of Red Bull, fruit, a full-fledged breakfast spread and deli sandwich tray — and that’s just for setting the able. She also likes to help her voice with a humidifier and throat lozenges. And décor? This one likes to keep it simple enough — two dozen pink or white roses and three large scented candles that smell of baked goodies.
