Fire guts 'Super Dancer' sets at Mumbai's iconic RK Studio

A fire broke out at the famous RK Studio in Chembur here this afternoon, a senior fire brigade official said.

MUMBAI: A fire broke out on the sets of 'Super Dancer' at the famous RK Studio in Chembur on Saturday afternoon. No casualties were reported, divisional fire officer PG Duhale told the New Indian Express.

There were no crew members present on the set at the time.

As many as 11 fire tenders and five water tankers were pressed into service to douse the flames, a senior fire brigade official said.

"The fire was confined to electric wiring, electric  installation, decoration equipment in the 100x80 sq ft area on the ground floor of the building," said P S Rahangdale, the chief of the Mumbai fire brigade.

Primary investigation revealed a short circuit might have caused the blaze.

The film studio is named after legendary Bollywood actor Raj Kapoor and is owned by the RK Film Production Company.  It is currently operational under the supervision of actor Rishi Kapoor.
