Bad dentures and pale skins

Vampires have ruled our imagination for years. Here’s looking at the youngest and hottest bloodsuckers around.

Death Warrior

Kate Beckinsale certified her status as an action superstar with the ‘Underworld’ series in which she plays Selene, a vampire who falls in love with a werewolf, Lucian (Michael Sheen). In the series, Selene and Lucian go against their warring clans to find love (think Romeo and Juliet with a twist). Beckinsale nearly turned down the film when it was first offered to her because she didn’t want to read the script. One thing about the series that Beckinsale disliked? Her costume. She has described it as a ‘condom with sleeves. '

No blood, no glory

True Blood, created by Alan Bell (of ‘Six Feet Under’ fame) is the latest cult series, which features vampires in modern day America. Based on the The Southern Vampire Mysteries series by Charlaine Harris, the show leaves you with hordes of vampires to contend with, but it is Eric Northman (Alexander Skargard), the vampire ‘sheriff’ in Louisiana, who best grabs the attention of the protagonist, Sookie (Anna Paquin) and the viewers. Northman is the sort of vampire who would go after your blood one minute and then put himself in harm’s way to save you from danger the next. What is better than an enigma wrapped in good looks?

Undead brothers

In the hit television series, ‘Vampire Diaries’, human Elena Gilbert struggles with her feelings

for vampire brothers Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder), creating an undead love triangle. The series follows Stefan and Damon, blood brothers out for each other’s throats (pun intended). “I actually don’t like blood. It freaks me out a little bit,” says Somerhalder who plays Stefan, the ambiguous elder brother.

Soulful Longing

Before Edward Cullen even broke out his fangs, there was Angel, the vampire with a soul, who loved Buffy, the vampire slayer (talk about conflict of interest). David Boreanaz perfected the look of tortured yet sexy Romeo-vampire who would die for his lady love in this masterpiece by Joss Whedon. But Angel’s love for Buffy is not the only thing that defines him. He fights evil and saves the world before the sun rises every day.

Sheen original

Unless you have lived under a rock these last couple of years, chances are you have probably heard of or have been infected by the ‘Twilight’ mania. While tweens (and their mothers) are besotted with the ‘vegetarian’ vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson), we think it is Michael Sheen’s Aro, the leader of the Volturi clan (vampire royalty), who actually pumped some blood into the series. Sheen brings menace and enigma to the role.
