BANGALORE: A recent fashion exhibition held in the city has added life to the famed Anarkali Salwar Kameez.

While we look for trendy attires during the summer season, we also tend to eye outfits that one can easily carry for parties and traditional gatherings. One such outfit that is fit for all occasions is the Anarkali salwar Kameez which is traditional, trendy and fashionable.

Once popular as Mujra dresses, Anarkali Salwar Kameez are back in fashion again after a very long span. Many Bollywood stars, both on-screen and off-screen, have popularised this new trend among the youngsters.

Designer Nisha Deepak recently exhibited her Anarkali Salwar Kameez collection in Basava Ambara on Kanakapura Road.

“The regular Anarkali dresses are found in chiffon and georgette materials. I have tried to bring out these dresses in cotton and mal cotton fabrics, highlighting the border with moghul prints,” she said of the unique features in her collection.

The long Anarkali dresses were showcased with Khadi block prints in leaf and floral motifs. “Moghuls, in their era used vibrant colours like red, maroon, pink and green. Besides trying the designs on the vibrant colours, I have also tried to blend the gold and white combination. One can sport it even during a evening cocktail party,” said Nisha.

Nisha also pointed out that the Anarkali dresses have a very light feel and woman, no matter which age group they belong to, can carry it well. Speaking about her inspiration to work on Anarkali dresses, she added, “Almost every designer has worked with various cuts and designs. I was inspired to exhibit the collection when I was working on sarees with moghul prints. Hence, I kept in mind the age group and the season in mind while designing this summer collection.”

Some opt for subtle colours and others for vibrant with various textures and hues. Not to disappoint anyone, Nisha Deepak’s collection has a wide range of Anarkali dresses in different colours. “Since these dresses are hand woven, they are intricate in their designs and the personal touch is added to each of these dresses,” added the designer.

Speaking about her future projects, she said that she will be working on sarees with a lotus theme with pin tuck printed lotus, embroidered work on sarees with lotus and boutique work. “I am planning to have the exhibition in the month of October. For showcasing my new collection in June, I am right now working on the black and white theme on sarees, stoles and dupattas with geometrical designs,” she concluded.
