NEW YORK: Hollywood comeback kid Mickey Rourke was reportedly grilled by security officials at a New York airport last week, after he tried to board a flight with thousands of dollars in cash.

"The Wrestler" star was stopped by airport officials at JFK International Airport before jetting out to attend the Sarajevo Film Festival in Bosnia, reports hollywood.com.

The actor was stopped with two bodyguards at a security checkpoint and questioned for approximately 10 minutes about the amount of money he was carrying while officials carried out a search of his luggage.

It's unknown how much money Rourke had on him, but travellers are required to fill out a customs form if they're carrying more than $10,000 out of the US.

He was allowed to board after officials deemed he was not a security threat.
