Andrew Garfield is the new ‘Spider Man’

The young actor will star as Peter Parker in the new sequel of 'Spider Man' which is going to be shot in 3D format.

LOS ANGELES: Actor Andrew Garfield is set to play teenage Peter Parker in the upcoming 'Spider Man' reboot that will focus on the superhero's college life.

"Though his name may be new to many, those who know this young actor's work understand his extraordinary talents. He has a rare combination of intelligence, wit and humanity. Mark my words, you will love Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker," said director Mark Webb.

Garfield, who won the British Academy Television Award (BAFTA) for best actor for the 2007 movie "Boy A", has teamed up with by Mark Webb for the movie. In the first three films, Tobey Maguire had portrayed Parker.

The upcoming untitled ‘Spider Man’ reboot will be shot in 3D starting early December this year. It is scheduled for a July 3, 2012 release.

"I'm incredibly excited about Andrew Garfield. In the Spider-Man tradition, we were looking for a smart, sensitive and cool new Peter Parker who can inspire us and make us laugh, cry, and cheer. We believe we have found the perfect choice to take on this role and lead us into the future," said producer Avi Arad.
