Denzel Washington returns to Broadway spotlights

Actor Denzel Washington is set to make his Broadway return next year with Eugene ONeills "The Iceman Cometh".

LOS ANGELES: Actor Denzel Washington is set to make his Broadway return next year with Eugene ONeills "The Iceman Cometh".

"Iceman Cometh" was written in 1939 and the play got published in 1946. It debuted on Broadway in the same year. Since then, the play has been revived four times - with the last production in 1999, starring actor Kevin Spacey.

Scott Rudin will produce the revival, starring Washington, with George C. Wolfe on board to direct, reports variety.com.

The story is set in a down-market New York bar and follows the conversations of the patrons who have nowhere to go. Previews will begin on March 22.
