The weekend binge: Netflix's 'Dark' is a lot like 'Stranger Things'

The new Netflix series is clearly on its way to becoming the next hit, as viewers lose themselves in the plot despite the language barrier.

On Friday, Netflix released a 10-episode German language series called 'Dark'.

As the name of the series suggests, 'Dark' is set in a dimly lit world. The series is directed by Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese, the creators of 'Who Am I: No System Is Safe'. Who Am I is a 2014 critically acclaimed German techno-thriller film centred on the darknet and cyberspace hacking.

'Dark' stars German actors Louis Hofmann, Oliver Masucci, Jördis Triebel, Maja Schöne and Sebastian Rudolph.

Just like 'Stranger Things', the story begins with the disappearance of two children in a German town.

The new series is clearly on its way to becoming the next hit, as viewers lose themselves in the plot despite the language barrier.
