BISBANE: Grammy Award-winning singer Adele has sparked a row with Brisbane City Council, telling them to "shut up with their bloody moaning" over transport issues at one of her Australian concerts.

There has been debate here after the British singer chose the famous The Gabba cricket ground for two shows this weekend before 60,000 people each night, reports mirror.co.uk.

Adele sold 20,000 seats on the floor as well as 40,000 in the stands -- a 50 per cent increase on normal attendances at the cricket ground, which does not normally hold concerts.

"I know there was a bit of controversy about me playing the Gabba," she told fans during the first concert, according to The Courier-Mail newspaper.

"I think they should shut up with their bloody moaning, f***ing hell. Shut up! I've come from f***ing London. I'm happy to be in Brisbane!"

The council and the Queensland state government have previously said they prefer the famous rugby league venue, Suncorp Stadium, for concerts as it has better transport links.
