Recently, we reported about Justine Triet of Anatomy of a Fall fame directing a film titled Fonda, starring Mia Goth, Andrew Scott, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, and Frank Dillane in important roles. The latest development about the film is that Odessa A’zion, Benedict Wong, Ewan Mitchell, and Cherry Jones have been added to the cast, according to Variety. Allison Janney, who had been in negotiations to star in the movie, has also joined the cast.

Fonda marks Justine Triet's first feature film in English, and she will direct it from her own screenplay. The psychological thriller is set in a place that seems idyllic and explores "the shifting limits of a sound mind, as grief and obsession take hold."

The film brings Triet back together with producers David Thion and Marie-Ange Luciani and distributor MK2 Films after Anatomy of a Fall. Serving as co-producers on the film are Delphine Tomson, Luc Dardenne and Jean-Pierre of Les Films du Fleuve as well as BBC Film and House Productions.

Justine Triet made her directorial debut with 2013's Age of Panic. She also made films such as In Bed with Victoria (2016) and Sibyl (2019) before earning global fame with 2023's Anatomy of a Fall. The 2023 film earned five Oscar nominations in 2024 and it won the Best Original Screenplay award for Triet and her co-writer Arthur Harari.
