BANGALORE: Kannada actress Nidhi Subbaiah has become selective about her roles because she has realized that the audience takes notice of characters of substance.

She says that although she would love to do glamorous and stylish roles, she always ends up starring in projects that demand least make-up. She had just returned from Thailand after shooting some song sequences of her upcoming Sandalwood film ‘Krishnan Marriage Story’.

Nidhi complains that Kannada film industry does not pay its heroines well. She says that heroines get only 30% of the amount that heroes make. According to her, this is one of the reasons that local heroines want to try their luck in other South film industries.
