One does not know which movie will bring together director Lingusamy and actor Vishal, but it certainly isn’t going to be ‘Sandakozhi 2’, the much-touted sequel to the 2005 hit film that they worked together for.

According to a reliable film source, the director has shelved the project as he hasn’t been able to develop a meaty plot for the sequel of the blockbuster action film. The filmmaker had, in fact, told City Express earlier that he and writer S Ramakrishnan were writing two stories for the sequel, and the best elements of both would be used in the film.

It now seems like that hasn’t worked out, and the filmmaker has junked the idea of making a sequel altogether.

‘Sandakozhi’, the original, featured Vishal and Meera Jasmine as the lead pair, with Rajkiran playing an important supporting role.

The source added that Vishal was not part of a film to be produced by Lingusamy’s banner, Tirupathi Brothers, anymore. The yet-to-be-titled movie will be directed by Saravanan who debuted with ‘Engeyum Eppodhum’.

Lingusamy is said to be working on a fresh script now, the cast of which will be announced shortly.
