Hyderabad-based Aditya Music has secured the rights for the Hindi dubbed version of the temporarily titled Kotigobba 2 starring Sudeep and Nithya Menen for a whopping `1.30 crore, a first in Sandalwood.
The bilingual film made in Kannada and Tamil is produced by Surappa Babu and directed by KS Ravi Kumar. According to Surappa Babu, the deal was signed recently and the transaction was done in a single payment. “The film has generated interest at the shooting stage itself because of a few artistes like Sudeep, Prakash Raj and Mukesh Tiwari, who are quite popular with the Hindi audience. Another reason is that the film is helmed by a well-known director, KS Ravi Kumar.”
Trying to cash in on the hype, the makers are wasting no time and are aiming to complete shoot by December-end. Currently in Mysuru, the director is looking at completing portions with Prakash Raj by November 20. “We will then be left with the climax and some songs. I hope everything goes as planned,” said the producer.
According to sources, the makers are looking at a January release. This is the first time that Sudeep and Nithya Menen are coming on screen and their pairing is another factor for the curiosity levels to soar.
The film has is said to have created hype among Tamil distributors too and a few have already come forward to buy the rights. “Talks are also on with Kannada distributors and we will be deciding soon,” Babu said.
