Lara Dutta and Mahesh Bhupati put to rest the series of rumours about their relationship status by getting formally engaged in New York.
Until recently, both had vehemently denied any romantic involvement with each other. The former Miss Universe was in a live-in relationship with ramp-model-turned-actor Kelly Dorjee. Mahesh Bhupati was married to Chennai-based model Shveta Jaishankar. The marriage ended in a divorce.
The tennis star had reportedly met Lara when his marriage was going through its worst phase. Lara happened to be a client of the celebrity management company owned by Mahesh.
His ex-wife accused him of cheating on her with Lara.
Mahesh was in New York for his US Open and Davis Cup matches. Lara had also come to the city for a photo-shoot.
