Plea on 'Aarakshan' to be heard after vacation

HYDERABAD:Justice Noushad Ali of the Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday adjourned a writ petition filed by filmmaker Prakash Jha seeking damages from the state government for 'illegally' imposing a temporary ban on his film 'Aarakshan'.

The petition was posted for hearing after the court vacation i.e. after Sankranthi.

It may be recalled that the film release was delayed in the state in August 2011 due to the government's decision to impose a temporary ban which was later withdrawn. The film dealt with the policy of reservations and was a multistarrer with Amitabh Bachchan in the lead. Prakash Jha complained that the delayed release had affected the film's finances and thus he was entitled for damages for being deprived of the Right to Expression.
