Bollywood gets ‘Walk of Stars’

The Mumbai version of Holywood's famous 'Walk of Fame' was launched at Bandra with Raj Kapoor's brass statue.

Inspired by the Hollywood’s ‘Walk of Fame’, UTV Stars, a Bollywood channel has introduced its own ‘Walk of Stars’. The first family of Bollywood -- the Kapoors — were the first ones to be felicitated on Thursday.

‘Walk of Stars’ will have renowned celebrities’ handprints on a customised slab, and specially designed brass statues of iconic legendary actors. The customised slabs bearing the handprints will be dedicated to the living legends of Indian cinema, slabs with signatures will be dedicated to the legends that have passed away.

The ‘Walk of Stars’ spreads on two kilometre stretch at the Bandra Bandstand promenade in suburban Mumbai. Actress Kareena Kapoor unveiled her grandfather Raj Kapoor’s brass statue on Thursday.

“I am falling short of words. What more would I want than sitting beside my grandfather...Whatever I am today is all because of them. We Kapoors have acting in our veins and blood,” Kareena told reporters here.

Slabs dedicated to Prithviraj Kapoor, Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Randhir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Karisma Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor have been installed, alongwith brass statues on a bench of Raj Kapoor and Shammi Kapoor.
