So girls, get ready to electrify your wardrobe with this new rocking entry in town - the printed jeans! Coloured denim which has been ruling the stores for a while now is slowly giving way to colourful printed jeans. And if you are hesitating to grab a pair of them, not to worry, here are some tips on how to style them and blend in with the new trend.

Printed jeans were seen worn by actresses from time-to-time. But now this style has started becoming a trend everywhere.

Recently, Isha Talwar was seen donning such a piece in Bangalore Days and also the trailer for the new Disney movie Khoobsurat shows  fashionista Sonam Kapoor rocking her style with printed jeans. So if you are keen to buy one, you might as well need to know some facts about printed jeans.

Printed jeans are basically patterns printed on to denim, and the prints could range from cute and subtle floral to bold animal prints, making them flexible enough to be used by women of all age groups. Now, there is a variety of prints that you can choose from, depending on your taste, age, colour, occasion and so on, which is by the way applicable while buying any piece of clothing. So these are some of the types of printed jeans available.

The first in the list is the floral print which includes prints of roses and daisies with colours that could range from light to dark. This surely gives a feminine look altogether. Then comes the bold animal print which can showcase the wild side in you with prints ranging from cheetah, leopard and zebra to snakeskin. Surely this could be a bit too much for most of them, but you can wear them anyway if you know how to wear them.

Now for those who still have a double mind about trying  this on, go ahead with the paisley print which comes under pattern prints. Paisley prints have prints of the same colour as those of the jeans. This could give a subtle yet stylish look. And for the daring ladies out there, such prints in contrasting colours are also available. Tribal prints and striped prints are some other bolder options here to go for. Then there are graphic prints which come as dots, stars and stripes.

The Dos and Don’ts

Well, now that we know the range of printed jeans available and may be you have decided on which one to go for, the next and most important step is to know how to carry it off. This may seem a bit daunting for some since normally we put on a pair of jeans without giving much thought to it. But no worries, there are some things you should keep in mind while wearing one.

One should never compromise when it comes to comfort and fit. It is even more important to printed jeans largely because they invite all the attention, so you do not want to wear ill-fitting jeans. Though there are a wide number of cuts and styles to choose from, skin-fit ones are the best.

Printed jeans could be worn best with solid-coloured blouse or blazer having one of the prominent colours on the jeans.

If it is a graphic printed jean with small shapes, printed tops or loose blouse can be used. Tops and cardigans of neutral colours, white or tan is a great way to flaunt such jeans.

No outfit is complete without accessories. So, for printed jeans, using bags or shoes which draw out the less prominent colour in the jeans can give a chic look. They go well with both flats and heels. And when it comes to jewellery, some kind of contrast must be offered like if the print is bold, use light jewellery and vice-versa.

It’s equally important to know how not to flaunt them.

Kurtis are a big no-no for printed jeans. They simply cannot be paired. And always opt out of traditional accessories and hairstyles while donning such jeans.

Here you go! Just go with your fashion instincts and have fun with them.
