Madhavan, who is playing a boxing coach in Saala Khadoos, talks about his efforts to keep fit.

“Fitness to me is being healthy, both mentally and physically. In Saala Khadoos, I am stocky, snarling and bearded. Since I am essaying the role of a boxing coach, I need to have a rugged look. When I saw myself in Saala Khadoos, I couldn’t recognise myself!” says Madhavan.

According to Madhavan, the idea of a perfect body is that one should happily be able to do all the activities that one desires to do. “My fitness tip is to be happy mentally. My diet consists of normal vegetarian food. I have no workout routine. It all depends on my lifestyle. I either do yoga or pilates. Sometimes, I do weights or cardio but just enough to ensure that the strain doesn’t show on my face,” he says.

Talking about his workout, the actor says that he loves to train his upper body and hates training the legs. “In my opinion, the relationship between fitness and health is integral. Sadly, people don’t understand the relationship between both. Fitness is at the core of good health,” he says.

With a sincere exercise routine, the actor says that many a time he has people shocked to know that he is 45. “But I think my best body feature is my smile,” he says.

“In my opinion, the Bollywood actor with the fittest body is Akshay Kumar. He is one guy who looks fit even at his age. And among actresses, I love the grace of Deepika Padukone. She is not into looking muscular. She is the epitome of femininity,” he says.
