Vidyut Jamwal will be performing yet more daring action sequences in Commando 2 after making an impact with a negative role in Force (2011) and then moving on to showcasing eye-widening stunts in Commando (2013), his first lead role. Now Vidyut promises that
Commando 2 will be better than the previous one.
What will be new about Commando 2?
We’re spending a lot of money this time as a lot of people have faith in the film. You’ll see better action and the storyline is better too. Everything is better and bigger.
But these days there are lots of action films. Are you confident of standing out among the crowd?
We are not aware the individual response each film will receive. There are numerous action films coming up and all will receive a different response, depending on how it is shot and who the actor is.
You began your career as a leading man with the first Commando. Is this series special to you?
My dad was in the Indian army so I have seen army life since childhood. It was his wish that I should join the army but I didn’t. When I signed Commando my family members were supper happy. Every actor wants to do a film with which he can get recognition … I am very happy that people recognise me with Commando. It is a nice feeling when people are inspired by your work. In fact, I have met a few boys who got into the army after watching Commando.
You said no to Prem Ratan Dhan Payo because you wanted to do Commando 2. Any regrets?
I don’t regret not doing Prem Ratan Dhan Payo but I wanted to work with Salman Khan. I would have done the film, if I had not been preparing for Commando 2.
You are mostly seen in action films.
I want to do all kinds of roles -- from romantic to comic. I have just completed Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Yaara, which is a romantic drama. I will try all genres but if it is action then I will do even better than what I have done earlier.
