His family wanted him to join the Army but rather than be a soldier, the actor chose to become a 'Commando'

Bollywood News Service

Vidyut Jamwal will perform daring action sequences in Commando 2. After making an impact in a negative role in Force (2011) and then showcasing awe-inspiring stunts in Commando (2013), this is his second lead role. Now Vidyut promises that Commando 2 will be better than the first film of the franchise.

So, what's new about Commando 2?

We’re spending a lot of money on it as a lot of people have faith in the film. You’ll see better action and the storyline is better too. Everything is bigger and better.

But there are so many after action films these days. Will you stand out?

Yes, there are numerous action films coming up but each will get a different response, depending on the actors and how it is shot.

You began as a leading man with Commando 1. Is this series special to you?

My dad was in the Army, so I am familiar with a soldier's life. It was my father's wish that I join the Army, but I didn’t. When I signed for Commando, my family was super happy. Every actor wants to do a film that gets him recognition. I am happy that people have begun to recognise me after Commando. It is a nice feeling when people are inspired by your work. In fact, I have met a few boys who got into the Army after watching Commando.

You said no to Prem Ratan Dhan Payo because you wanted to do Commando 2. Any regrets?

I don’t regret not doing Prem Ratan Dhan Payo but I would have loved to work with Salman Khan. I would have done the film had I not been preparing for Commando 2.

Most of your films are action flicks.

I want to do all kinds of roles, romantic, comic, etc. I have just completed Tigmanshu Dhulia’s Yaara, which is a romantic drama. I will try all genres but if it is action then I will do even better than I have done so far.

Which are the other films you will be seen in?

My next film is Milan Luthria’s Baadshaho with Ajay Devgn and Kareena.
