Starring Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi in lead roles, 'Libaas' was kept away from releasing due to differences between director Gulzar and its producer Mohan. Made in 1988, the marital drama is finally coming to theatres this year after Mohan's son, Amul Vikas Mohan decided to release it.

Talking about extramarital relations and how an urban Indian couple handles it, 'Libaas' had gone on to win accolades at international film festivals but was never released in India. The film was shown at the Bangalore International Film Festival in 1992 and at the International Film Festival of India in 2014 but it never had a theatrical release.

The film, based on Gulzar's own short story, 'Seema', is about Sudhir (Shah) and Seema (Azmi) and how their marriage goes through turmoil when Seema leaves Sudhir for TK (Raj Babbar). The movie also stars Utpal Dutt, Sushma Seth, Annu Kapoor and Savita Bajaj.

RD Burman had composed music with Gulzar's lyrics for the movie, which resulted in gems like 'Silli Hawa'.
