BANGALORE: Chiranjeevi Sarja, the nephew of Action King Arjun Sarja, is all set to appear on the silver screen in a new avatar. Sarja has acted in Vaayupthra and Gandedhe. Both of them were out and out commercial flicks. Now, Sarja is set to play a lover boy in Chiru that is slated for release on Friday.

Speaking to Expresso, director Maheshbabu said that Sarja has played a different role in this romantic film. “The audience, especially, the youth will become vicarious while watching this film at theatres. Sarja has proved that he too can play a lover boy on screen,” says Maheshbabu.

Another USP of this film is Kruthi Kharbandha, who acted in the Telugu film Boni with Sumanth as the hero, making her debut in Sandalwood with Chiru. “Kruthi’s performance is excellent. She was not only punctual but also co-operative during the shooting. I am of the opinion that she will become an asset for Sandalwood,” explains Maheshbabu. Kruthi is expected to act in a Telugu movie where Pavan Kalyan plays the hero. “It will be a re-make of the Hindi film Love Aaj Kal,” says Maheshbabu. Elaborating on the film Chiru, the director said that its narration will be different. “The hero and the heroine will be together but will not feel that they are in love. It has a different script. I am confident that the audience will receive it well,” says the director.

Expressing confidence over Chiru's success at the box office, he says: “The audio has already been a huge hit. Chiru's success will certainly attract more cine buffs to theatres.” Chiru’s shooting was held in Bangalore, Mysore and Sakleshpur. “We picturised two songs in Switzerland,” says the director.

Rangaayana Raghu, Bullet Prakash, P N Satya, Padma Vasanthi are the other members of the cast.
