CHENNAI: Prashant Mampully’s Kannada movie 'Sugreeva' has entered the Limca Book of National Record for finishing the entire shoot of the film within 18 hours.

The Shivraj Kumar-Yajna Shetty-Dilip Raj starrer movie is action-based and revolves around the father-son relationship.

The movie shot with 19 cameras within a budget of one and a half crore rupees also has one song and two fight sequences.

“We worked hard with dummy shoots and did six months homework prior to the actual shooting,” Prashant Mampully told the media on Thursday, after receiving the record certificate on Wednesday. “We erected sets in the studio and the hero had to move from one set to another. And the shooting was on continuously from 6 AM to 11.55 PM. We did not have time for retakes,” he added.

The movie was released in 2010. With the Limca record, the director has overtaken his own record of shooting the Malayalam movie 'Bhagwan' starring Mohanlal in 2009.

The director has set his foot in Kollywood with 'Ungal Veetu Pillai', starring newcomer Vishnu Charan and Ashida, who has also acted in 'Sugreeva'.

The movie, shot simultaneously in Tamil, Telugu and Kannada, will release next month, according to the director. The director is also eying to beat his own record again, this time with a Tamil movie.

“Talks are on with a reputed actor in Tamil to do a movie, which will be shot in less than 18 hours. The announcement will be made soon,” Mampully told Express.
