Model-turned-actor Chandan Kumar, who rose to fame with the television serial Lakshmi Barramma, is one among the few TV actors to have managed to hit it big in Sandalwood. With three films to his credit, Chandan is definitely the man of the moment.
“I got into the small screen three years ago. Back then, I was knocking the doors of tinsel town, but it didn’t open. Now that it is opening, I am being choosy,” he says.
With Parinaya, Eradlonda Mooru and Bangalore-560023, Chandan feels that it was the small screen magic that worked well for him. “Small screen gave me immediate fame and some good work. It took me some time to get onto the big screen. However, it is still fine,” he says.
Parinaya will be the first to hit the screens, followed by Eradlonda Mooru and Bangalore-560023. “I had signed Parinaya two-and-a-half years ago, and it will be my debut. I am happy with the outcome of my second film Eradlonda Mooru. Now, I am gearing up for Bangalore-560023, whose shooting will start on April 21,” says Chandan.
With Bangalore-560023 being all about cricket, Chandan has set his eyes not only at the box office, but even a slot in the Celebrity Cricket League. “I want to be one of the players in the next CCL. Though I am quite popular on small screen, I could not be part of CCL because I had not done any movies. Now that I have got three projects, I aim to be there. I was in the under-19 probables and I used to play in the university-level. CCL is big and as popular as other cricket tournaments and I hope to get noticed,” he says.
However, fame has its downside and Chandan knows it well. This upcoming talent has been in the news for wrong reasons since he walked out of a popular dance show.
Speaking about his exit on a social networking site, he had said, “On a serious note, I am deeply hurt by few people. Even though it is a ‘no elimination’ round, I am not going on Dancing Star stage again...”
We also hear that it was Chandan’s ego that led him to the exit door. He says, “Four years of hard work cannot be ruined by four minutes of negative comments. I am out of the show and would not like to talk about it. I should not be worrying about anything because I am a positive person,” he signs off.
