Song from Adhyaksha Gets Cut

Directors have time and again been restricted when it comes to creativity in filmmaking.

BANGALORE: Directors have time and again been restricted when it comes to creativity in filmmaking. Just when the makers of Adhyaksha had resolved the title issue by renaming it as Sharan Adhyaksha, Nanda Kishore had to sort another problem before the film’s release on Independence Day. This time, it had to do with one of the songs in the film. Apparently, the director had to cut a few scenes from the song Open hair bitkondu after objections were raised by a few people.

Kishore says, “The song was done in Ram Leela style and in one scene, there are a few people dressed as lord Krishna, painted in blue. This scene will now have to go because a few people feel it is inappropriate and offensive. I had no choice but to cut it because I can’t take risks at this moment.”

The song is already a hit and has been well received on social media. “I hope people understand the difficulties that the crew undergoes while making a film. Looks like directors have lost their freedom when it comes to creativity,” says Kishore.
