Parul, Yagna in Killing Veerappan

A Sharadhaa

Ram Gopal Varma makes news even if he does nothing. And when he does something, especially a film on Veerappan, the promotional budget gets cut by half. His next, Killing Veerappan came out further from turbidity when RGV zeroed in on his leading ladies.

Parul Yadav and Yagna Shetty will play pivotal roles in the multilingual project that will be made in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. While Shivarajkumar was already chosen to play the central role of the officer who kills Veerappan, Sandeep, an aspiring youth from National School of Drama was selected to play the role of the Sandalwood smuggler. (City Express got hold of the first glimpse of Sandeep’s look).

According to sources, Parul will be cast opposite Shivarajkumar and Yagna Shetty will be essaying the role of Muthulakshmi, wife of Veerappan.

Confirming her selection, Parul says, “Though I am not in a position to reveal the exact role I play in RGV’s film, for me it is a dream come true to be working in a humongous project that has already created so much hype before going on floors. To top it, I will be associating with two big guns of cinema industry - RGV and Shivarajkumar. I can’t ask anything more at this stage of my career.”

Yagna Shetty is also excited to play the role of Muthulakshmi and according to her, essaying a real life character demands enormous talent and if RGV has chosen her, then he must have seen nuggets of aptitude in her.

“I don’t know what made RGV think that I suit the role, but when I heard of the selection, I asked myself, ‘Can I play the role?’ I am not willing to disappoint the confidence and have been browsing about Muthulakshmi. Going by her looks, I don’t mind if RGV wants me to go without any make-up,” says Yagna, who hopes to meet the smuggler’s wife, but states that it depends on RGV. “I have been asked to join from June 27 and I am going with a blank mind,” she adds. Meanwhile, another good news from Yagna is her entry into Kollywood. The actress, has been tight lipped about her debut and says that she will be revealing the details once she completes her next schedule.  “I was surprised to know that the makers of the Tamil film watched my performance in Ulidavaru Kandante and offered me a role in their film,” she says.

The film, which had its muhurath on April 24, will have a big launch on June 20. The shoot will follow from the next day.
