Popular Tamil Singer Gana Bala Enters Kannada With Kolara

A Sharadhaa

The latest entry to the Kannada industry is Tamil playback singer Bala Murugan, popularly known as Gana Bala. Lending his voice to the Yogi-starrer Kolara, directed by Arya Mahesh, this time Gana will also be making his presence seen on screen, where he will be seen dancing to the song.

The director has based the film on   real life gangster Thangam who was allegedly involved in murder, robbery rape and theft cases in and around KGF, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.

The song sung by Bala will be played during a scene of mourning, when a character from the gangster’s group dies. Since certain sections of  Tamilians have a particular style of percussion and music during the funeral, and the storyline also has a strong connect to Tamil Nadu, they plan to bring in the singer. The lyrics will have a few words in Tamil to match the song’s theme and the subject.

The scene for this particular song was shot at Laggere on Monday with Gana Bala, Michael, Rajendra, Tamil actress Sangeetha, and Yogi being part of the sequence.

Gana Bala rose to fame for his songs that mostly belong to the gaana genre, which is very popular in Tamil Nadu. The singer also writes lyrics for most of his songs. Some of his popular tracks are  Aadi Pona Aavani and Nadukadalula Kappala from the film Attakathi. Appreciated for reviving gaana songs,

Kolara will be Gana’s entry into Kannada, and now it remains to be seen  how he will be recieved here.
