Roopa Iyer, who was on a sabbatical after Chandra, is back at the helm. The director known for her film Mukhaputa - The Cover Page, this time chose to direct an international children's film, which she has titled Colors.
Mukhaputa was on a child who is HIV positive. It won two international awards and one Karnataka State Film Award in 'Special Film of Social Concern' category.
The director has written stories for movies and screeplays, and even acted in one.
Her latest, Colors, brings together children of different nationalities - American, African and Indian.
"I chose to stay away because I am very particular about the films I do. I picked Colors because the story is based on the life of children who are always seen happy irrespective of caste, creed and where they are based out of. Colors also talks of racism," she says.
The film made in Kannada and English features young kids Avorra, Basu and Yashwanth.
"This film will throw light upon the children's leadership qualities," says Roopa, who has completed the shoot and now in the post-production stages.
"The film was shot in the forests of Dandeli, therefore was more an adventure for all of us," adds the director.
Roopa plans to release the film in three months and will take Colors to 30 Film festivals in India and abroad.
Colors made under Friday Films has Gautam Srivathsa scoring the music. Sri of Crazy Minds is doing the edits and camerawork is by Ashwin.
