R Chandru launches kanaka on 10th anniversary of his debut

Kanaka will also introduce two new villains in the industry.

Director R Chandru, who held the muhurat of his upcoming film Kanaka on December 14 says the day also marks the start of his first project Charminar, which he began 10 years ago on the same day.

“My debut established me as a director and I am happy to start my upcoming film on this day,” he says.

Kanaka featuring Duniya Vijay in the lead comes with a tag line Annavara fan (Rajkumar is addressed as Annavaru in Karnataka).

According to the director, the film will showcase the goodwill of Rajkumar that blends with Vijay’s action, with a plot that explores love and emotions.

Apparently, Chandru was supposed to do a movie with Shivarajkumar, but as the script for the project changed, he shifted his priorities to Kanaka. “This is my dream script. It was ready three years ago and in the last six months the screenplay and dialogues were prepared,” says Chandru.

Meanwhile, the director is ready to wait for Vijay, who has been directed by the Karnataka Film Chamber to not to take up any other project until the Maasti Gudi issue is resolved. “I had discussed this subject with Vijay two months ago and ready to wait.

Kanaka will also introduce two new villains in the industry - Tumkuru Darshan, a doctor turned actor and Niranjan.

The direc tor has roped in a new music director, Naveen Sajju and called in Sathya Hegde for cinematography.
