Riding high on the pre-release publicity, announcing Nagarahavu as the 201st film of Vishuvardhan, the makers have decided to go with their heart and spend the money reserved for the audio launch to charity. Having brought the actor to life using special effects, the makers say that a buzz was created with its posters and teaser. So, they decided to spend the extra on a good cause.
“The budget of Rs 25 lakh, which was kept for the audio launch, will now be used towards a social cause. We will give Rs 1 lakh each to 25 patients who are in need of money. The charity campaign is called Simha Hasta in memory of Vishnuvardhan,” says producer Sajid Qureshi
The production house is already on the job, with the crew in the process of identifying the 25 recipients. “Crew members have started visiting various government hospitals in Karnataka and checking with the authorities while a parallel check will be conducted on the patient’s background. We will be handing over the cheque during a programme we plan to hold on August 7,” he revealed.
The producer is also planning a donation drive, which will start from August 7 till the release date. “I have already been receiving cheques from dear and near ones who have been supporting the cause. We will invite people to donate and will decide which patient needs a larger amount,” says Sajid.
With this initiative, the audio release will cost the makers just Rs 2,500 because they plan to launch it at one of the government hospitals on August 14. “We will give away our audio CDs to people attending the event. We are requesting all fans of Vishnuvardhan to visit various government hospitals on that day between 2 and 3 pm and give away the audios and spread happiness,” he says.
The production house has planned to release the film around Vishnuvardhan’s birthday, which falls on September 18.
“We are planning a festival closer to the release date and the details will be revealed as a when we have everything confirmed,” Sajid tells us.
The film has Diganth and Ramya in the lead roles.
