Mudhalvan gives me confidence to play CM again

The strong role of Arjun Sarja as a one-day chief minister, in Mudalavan (1999) has left such a lasting impact on a few filmmakers that he is now chosen to play a similar role in the upcoming S Narayan film — Bhoomi Putra.

The film is based on the 20-month regime of JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy as the chief minister.  Arjun has once again accepted the challenge to potray the character of a the CM.
“As an actor, I always look at whether my subject or character has any positivity in it. I felt the same when I heard the and was told about Kumaraswamy’s good work within that 20-month tenure. When I was offered such a role,  I thought, I should be a part of such a film. The film will have many creative and commercial aspects,” says the actor in a telephonic conversation with City Express.
A film on social awareness has always caught Arjun’s attention. “Back then, in Mudalavan people looked up to the powerful role and the character that I played. I was initially hesitant to accept the role when Shankar offered it to me. But it was the director’s confidence that brout out that image on screen. Likewise, makers of Bhoomi Putra believe that I can carry out such a role and I am prepared for it,” he says.
The filmmaker has just completed the shoot of his upcoming directorial, starring his daughter Aishwarya and Chandan. This bilingual is titled as Prema Baraha in Kannada. “The film’s dubbing is completed and now is at the editing stage,” he says.

The actor, is also gearing up to be a magician for his upcoming Telugu film Lie, directed by Hanu. The actor is leaving for the US this week to begin  shooting the film. “At this stage of my professional career, all my focus lies on being versatile,” he says.
