Recognition as an artiste was Shreya Anchan’s wish and this came true when she starred in Raj B Shetty’s directorial debut, Ondhu Motteya Kathe. Shreya is now looking forward to her second release, Katheyondu Shuruvagide. In the film she shares screen space with lead opposite Ashwin Rao Pallakki.
The film being Senna Hegde’s directorial debut features Diganth and Pooja Devariya in the lead. “I play a character named Swarna who is an employee at a resort owned by Diganth. Ashwin Rao and Prakash play my colleagues. The story unfolds when a guest comes to the resort and this changes the whole situation. This is when we get to establish our characters,” reveals Shreya.
She says that every upcoming actor in the industry should get to work with directors like Raj B Shetty and Senna Hegde. “These directors gives actors a free hand, and it is up to us as to how we utilise our role. At the same time, we are allowed to explore our talents better. Raj’s film gave me that first break, and I learnt a lot from him. It helped us both grow as professionals,” says Shreya while adding, “Raj’s tutorials came in handy for me in my present project with Senna Hegde.”
She had done two films in Tulu before doing Ondhu Motteya Kathe and then started working in serials, before her first big break in Sandalwood. “I also got associated with Sruthi Hariharan, and worked in a short film, Rita, which was screened last week “ Shreya adds.
It is a fresh journey for her and Shreya says she was appreciative of how she was recognised for her role in Ondhu Motteya Kathe. “I hope to get the same recognition for my role in Katheyondu Shuruvagide and wish that audiences see what I am trying to do. I want to fit into and do all kinds of roles,” she adds.
“I am happy to meet great talents on the sets of Katheyondu Shuruvagide, including Diganth and Pooja. It was a highly motivated team. All thanks to Rakshit Shetty and Pushkar Mallikarjunaiah for considering actors like me. Associating with a well-known production house is something that I am happy about and my next big step,” she adds.
