Director Vinayan is out with his next 3D venture, ‘Little Superman’, that    will have breath-taking visual effects. A fantasy thriller, wherein Master Deny will play the lead character, is meant for children and families alike.  ‘Little Superman’ tells the tale of Willy Wilson, a 11-year-old boy, who embarks on a journey of revenge after witnessing the fateful death of his parents. The film will hit the screens on November 7.

Says Vinayan: “Little Superman is a children’s movie. But, the make is such that even the families can enjoy it well. The movie tells the story of Willy Wilson who vows to take revenge on those who murdered his family. Willy who  escape from the clutches of the villians begins to experience dreams which transport him to another world. He oscillates between dream and reality but the elements of his dream helps him to achieve his motive,”.

Vinayan adds that there is a thrilling twist to the whole story and this  justifies the title ‘Little Superman’. “The movie also explores the connection between Willy’s dreams and reality,” he says.

The director, whose last release ‘Dracula 3D’ was a success, says there is nothing ‘Western’ about the movie except its title.

“Though it may sound like a movie with western elements, this is a pure desi outing. The movie has been shot entirely in Alappuzha and Ernakulam, capturing Kuttanad in all its beauty. But, a significant portion of the movie has also been shot in  the special set erected at Chennai and Hyderabad,” says the director.

Besides Master Deny, the movie will also have a strong cast, including Ranjith, Praveena and Ansiba Hassan and Baby Nayantara. “Since the movie is multi-lingual, we have included a lot of Tamil actors too,” says Vinayan.

Besides, 300 other children have also acted in the movie.

However, Vinayan says the highlight of the movie will be its technical  brilliance. “We have roped in technical experts from all over the country and Hollywood, with whom we have portrayed the dreamland and various animals like tigers, anaconda and dinosaurs. Experts from Prism and Pixels, The Mill and Phantom Effects have associated with us in ‘Little Superman’. This will be a visual treat for the viewers. We have spent over `3 crore for the special effects for the movie alone. I was behind this project for over one and half years,” says Vinayan.

He adds the equipment need for lifting and making the child actor fly had to be made from scratch. “This was done in the laiths here after mastering the technology and other methods. Stereoscopic directors from Hollywood too helped us with making the movie,” says Vinayan.

He says ‘Little Superman’ is possibly the only Malayalam 3D movie made for children after the famed ‘My Dear Kuttichathan’ and adds that he always wanted to make a movie that would open new vistas of technical brilliance in Malayalam movie industry.

“Ever since I made Dracula 3D, I wanted to so something along the same lines for children too. Now that the trailer has been released, the response is overwhelming,” says Vinayan.

Little Superman has been made under the banner of Akash Films by the director himself and entrepreneur V N Babu.
