After her last release opposite Fahadh Faasil in Ayal Njanalla last year, Mrudula Murali is awaiting the release of Shikhamani directed by Vinod Guruvayoor, which has Chemban Vinod Jose playing the title character.

“The film deals with a girl who ends up in a forest after a series of incidents, where she gets to meet Shikhamani, a gangman with the Indian Railways,” the actress said.

Mrudula, who made her entry into showbiz as a child anchor in Jeevan TV’s Dial and See along with her brother Midhun, has been choosing projects with care, right from her debut in the 2009 Mohanlal-starrer Red Chillies. Before Ayal Njanalla, her last appearance was in the 2013 Tamil film Nagaraja Cholan, MA, MLA starring Sathyaraj.

Besides anchoring TV shows, Mrudula also made a name for herself as a model before her initial foray into the silver screen with the Tamil flick Kangalum Kavipaduthey in 2007, which was shelved and not seen since.

Mrudula is high on hopes that Shikhamani, slated for release on April 29, will be a success.

2016, however, looks to be a busy year for the actress, who will also be seen in a Telugu film, her second in the language after Man of the Match opposite Sagar.
