A beautiful takeoff to dreams - that’s how Srikant Murali describes his debut. We have seen heroes who triumph despite all odds, but Aby, his title character, seems different. “It’s a motivational film, but you won’t be able to find a single cliché in it. At the same time Aby has all elements of a mainstream product,” says the director.

The film is woven around Aby, the title character played by Vineeth Sreenivasan, engaged in an unrelenting pursuit. “His dream is to fly, a childhood fantasy most of us grow out of. The film is all about how he follows it and achieves it.

He converts every situation and each individual around in favour of his quest,” he adds.
Unlike reports, the film is not inspired by any particular individual, he says. “Aby is not the story of a single person, it’s the tale of you and me. The film is not about making an aeroplane, it’s about flying. Since the film is about flying I spoke to a handful of experts in this field. But it doesn’t mean that Aby is about any of them. The film will be my reply to all the controversies.”

Srikant says Vineeth was his only choice for Aby as no other star can play a schoolboy with ease. “No other actor in Malayalam will fit into a  uniform without looking awkward. The film follows him through his teenage years to adulthood. So from the very beginning Vineeth was the one and only choice,” he says. Aby has its script penned by Santhosh Aechikkanam. and produced by Suvin K Varkey.
